Data Technician I
New Century Software has an immediate opening for a entry level Data Technician in Fort Collins, Colorado. Our clients include major North American oil and gas transmission and gathering companies that have already or are in the process of constructing enterprise integrity management and GIS systems.
Responsibilities
- Perform data conversion of pipeline facility data from client-provided data sources (plat maps, alignment sheets, survey notebooks, etc.)
- Maintain NCS standard for accuracy and quality
- Make corrections as necessary to converted data based on QC processes and reports
- Assist other personnel as needed with questions and issues concerning converted data
- Effectively communicate with internal and external customers
- Conduct yourself in a professional manner with both internal and external customers
- Provide estimates on conversion tasks as needed
- A strong willingness to assist with other project tasks as needed
Required Skills and Qualifications
- Basic understanding of Windows, Access, Word, and Excel
- Demonstrated ability to read and interpret maps and blueprints
- Understands monument tie descriptions and how to apply them to the map
- Solid understanding of Public Land Survey system grids
- Confident in using the computer and switching between multiple programs
- Ability to apply and understand mathematical concepts such as basic algebra, geometry, and calculations
- Excellent attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures and perform tasks with a high degree of efficiency, accuracy and quality
- Excellent problem solving skills and ability to balance details with the big picture
- An ability to work independently and as an effective team member
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multi-task
Preferable Skills and Qualifications
- Background or experience in GIS, CAD systems, or some form of mapping technologies
- Spatial and Visual abilities
- Experience working with imagery or graphics
- Previous data entry experience
- Demonstrated leadership skill and experiences
