Video: A Comparison of In-Line and Off-Line Histories in PODS

This video compares two methods of storing historical changes of data edits made to a PODS database (a.k.a. PODS History). These two methods are:

  1. Storing PODS History in the same PODS tables (In-Line) – this method stores all changes within the same actual PODS tables
  2. Storing PODS History in separate tables (Off-Line) – this method stores all changes in separate history tables. These tables are typically stored in a different schema in the same instance for Oracle and in a separate SQL Server database.

The intent is to provide IT and GIS professionals with information to make effective decisions regarding the storage of PODS historical data.
