Top 5 Things To Do at Esri User Conference

It’s hard to believe that the Esri User Conference is already next week (July 14-18) at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, CA!

As always, New Century Software is sending several representatives to attend the conference. This year, we’re also sponsoring the PUG Social and we’re presenting in two sessions! We have a packed schedule but have a few favorite things that we can’t wait to do while we’re there.

Considering that this isn’t our first Esri rodeo, we thought we would share some of our best-kept Esri UC secrets with you. Here are our top 5 things to do while attending the User Conference:

  1. Participate in the Esri 5K Fun Run/Walk
    activities-5k-run
Starting at the Hilton Bayfront, walk or run the flat waterfront course as it follows the Embarcadero Marin Park North and ends at the Embarcadero Boardwalk. Water stations are offered en route and chip timing provides accurate race results. The cost of admission is $30. If participating, be sure to pick up your T-shirt, bib and timing chip at the Activities Desk in the Convention Center no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 15.
  2. Grab fish tacos at Tin Fish Gaslamp

Tin Fish Gaslamp is alleged to have the best fish tacos in San Diego … because of this they get very busy, very quickly so plan accordingly to beat the rush! Once there, choose from an assortment of grilled or fried platters, sandwiches, tacos, burritos, etc. Yum!
  3. Have a cocktail at Top of the Market

The Fish Market is a retail seafood market with a renowned restaurant above it. The retail case not only highlights items featured on the restaurant menu, but also offers a fine selection of high-quality fresh fish and other live, fresh and frozen seafood items for purchase. The award winning restaurant, Top of the Market, is widely regarded as one of San Diego’s finest. Enjoy a seasonal menu of the freshest and highest-quality seafood, accompanied by views from Point Loma to the Coronado Bridge.
  4. Attend the PUG Social

Not only can you enjoy live music and refreshments, you can visit us! We’re sponsoring this relaxed, informal social event for the petroleum and geoscience community and we hope to see you there. When? Tuesday, July 15 from 6-9pm at the Marriott Hotel, Coronado Terrace.
  5. Visit the USS Midway Museum

Relive nearly 50 years of world history aboard the longest-serving Navy aircraft carrier of the 20th century. Admission includes a self-guided audio tour to 60 exhibits throughout the aircraft carrier, ranging from sleeping quarters to primary flight control. There are also 29 restored aircrafts onboard. If you are 42″ or taller, be sure to visit the Island, a superstructure above the flight deck. This docent-guided tour is free with paid admission. Admission is a bit cheaper if you buy tickets online, so plan ahead and save money!

We hope you will check out some of these activities and make the most of your time at the Esri User Conference. Also, be sure to let us know if you want to meet up!

See you in San Diego!
